Boat Ramp Access 

The Town of Minocqua provides a convenient way to register each of your tow vehicles. Registration is required at the boat ramps listed below. Use our new online portal to register your commercial boat ramp permit(s).

This method to register tow vehicles is designed to streamline the process and save you valuable time. No more hangtags or visits to the Town Office! From April 1st through November 30th of each year, all tow vehicles accessing the following boat ramps will be required to purchase a daily or annual use permit.

  • Thirsty Whale Boat Ramp - 453 E. Park Ave, Minocqua, WI

  • Schoolhouse Bay Boat Ramp - 429 E. Park Ave, Minocqua, WI

  • Cedar Street Boat Ramp - 968 Cedar Street, Minocqua, WI

  • Thoroughfare Boat Ramp - 9175 Thoroughfare Rd, Minocqua, WI

 

Please note there will be 24-hour camera enforcement in effect for the season, April 1st- November 30th. All tow vehicles must be registered. Unregistered tow vehicles may be subject to violaton fees or penalties.

Fees

Passes & Permits Fees

Single Day Pass - $10.00

​

3 Day Pass - $30.00

A three day pass is valid for 3 calendar days including the date of purchase.

Weekly Pass - $70.00

A weekly pass is valid for 7 calendar days including the date of purchase.

Non-Resident Seasonal Permit - $100.00

A seasonal permit is valid from April 1st through November 30th, the year of purchase.

Commercial Seasonal Permit - $150.00

A commercial permit is valid from April 1st through November 30th, the year of purchase. A commercial permit must be purchased for each tow vehicle utilizing the 4 designated boat ramps. A commercial vehicle pertains to watercraft businesses, dock companies, fishing guides, construction businesses, landscape businesses, and/or any other business operation, licensed or not, that financially profits from use and access to the specific boat ramp where fees are required.

How to Register
  1. Scan the QR Code: Using your mobile device’s camera, hover the camera over the QR code provided on the top right and click the URL link that appears. It is important to hold your device steady and keep the QR code in focus.

  2. Boat Ramp Access Registration: Follow the steps in the app or reference the instructions below to complete the registration.

    1. Enter your tow vehicle license plate (do not register your boat or trailer plate).

    2. Select pass/permit from the drop-down options. 

    3. Enter your mobile phone number to receive text alerts and a confirmation receipt.

    4. Check the box to accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

    5. Click the Purchase Session button.

    6. Enter your email to receive an emailed copy of your receipt.

 

NOTE: You will NOT receive a physical paper permit to display in your vehicle. Your license plate is your permit! If you enter an email and/or mobile phone number, you will receive a digital receipt. Digital receipts are the only proof of registration available. Previously issued paper permits will no longer be valid. You must register your  tow vehicle to be in compliance.

  • Is there a sticker or hanging tag associated with a ramp permit?
    No. Your license plate is your permit! All boat ramp access passes and permits are completely license plate based so you will not receive a physical permit/sticker, and you are not required to display anything on your vehicle. If you entered an email and/or mobile phone number at the time of purchase, you will receive a digital receipt. Digital receipts are the only proof of registration available. Previously issued paper permits will no longer be valid. You must register your tow vehicle to comply.
  • Can I go to the Minocqua Town Office to pay for boat ramp access?

  • Which boat ramp locations do I need a pass/permit for?
    The following boat ramps require a paid pass/permit. Thirsty Whale Boat Ramp - 453 E.   • Which license plate number should I register?
    Please register the tow vehicle license plate number. Do NOT use the boat or trailer plate numbers.
  • What happens if I don't register my tow vehicle?
    Please note there will be 24-hour camera enforcement in effect for the season, April 1st - November 30th. All tow vehicles must be registered. Unregistered tow vehicles may be subject to violaton fees or penalties. Violations notices will be distributed via mail.
  • I received a violation, what do I do?
